Position Status: Full time Contract (July 6 – August 31)
Compensation: $18/hr

About the Role
The Wellness Coordinator supports the successful operationof the Live Well Department, helping ensure smooth coordination of health andfitness programs designed for individuals impacted by chronic conditions,injuries, or long-term inactivity. This role provides administrative,logistical, and on-the-ground support to program staff, volunteers, andparticipants, helping create a safe and welcoming environment.
In This Role, You Will
- Assistwith setup,
organization, and flow of wellness programs and classes
- Welcomeparticipants, provide guidance on facility use, and ensure comfort in theprogram environment
- Provide a safe, supportive, and motivating environment for adults working toward health and wellness goals
- Support data collection for program tracking and evaluation
- Complete various program administrative tasks
- Provide excellent service to YMCA members and visitors by following the Y Way Standards, including:
- Greetingmembers within 5 feet and acknowledging members within 10 feet
- Acknowledgingmembers waiting for service and asking questions to determine their needs
- Watchingfor members who appear to need assistance and proactively offering help
- Takeownership in maintaining clean and tidy spaces, ensuring staff and volunteers complete cleaning checklists
- Ensureprogram equipment is returned to proper locations
- Cleanor tidy common areas as needed (garbage, towels, water spills, openlockers, etc.)
- Reportunresolved cleaning issues to facilities, supervisors, or the cleaningmanager
- Buildmember connections and ensure participants follow YMCA etiquette and safeequipment use
- Ensurecompliance with all safety requirements, industry standards, and childsafeguarding processes
Education and Skills Qualifications
- Currentlyenrolled in a University or College program in Kinesiology, PhysicalEducation, Recreation Leadership, or a related field
- YMCAcertification and/or Can-Fit Pro registration in Personal Training/GroupFitness is an asset
- Excellentverbal and written communication skills
- Stronginterpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and rapport-building
- Strongattention to detail
- Flexibilityto work irregular hours
- Intermediateproficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is open to applicants between the ages of 15 and 30, in accordancewith program eligibility requirements.
Required Background Checks
All successful candidates must provide:
- Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Register Check (less than 6 months old), if 18+
- Valid Intermediate Workplace First Aid and CPR-C
Background checks are reviewed individually. Offenses, ifany, are assessed based on role requirements and Child Safeguarding standardsand may not automatically disqualify candidates.
