Position Title: Education & TrainingSupport Coordinator
Department: Education & Training
Reports To: Manager, Education & Training
Location: Inuvik, Semmler Office
Employment Type: Full time Permanent
RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitatethe Gwich’in Student Wellness Program, supporting individuals and groupsof Gwich’in students pursuing post-secondary education or training.
Provideculturally relevant information on wellness supports, accommodations, andresources through presentations, workshops, and materials.
Supportindividuals and families in understanding and valuing their uniquewellness needs during educational programming.
Collaboratewith post-secondary institutions across the NWT and Canada to identify andpromote student wellness resources.
Coordinateonsite visits to post-secondary institutions and develop resourcenetworks.
Participatein career fairs, school orientations, and information sessions.
Compileand organize Participant applications, verify eligibility, and communicateavailable training subsidies.
Maintainconfidential records and ensure secure information systems.
Usea team-based approach to connect clients with appropriate resources,especially during times of crisis or trauma.
Actas a referral agent and advocate for culturally sensitive services.
Engagein community partnerships to promote student wellness.
Researchand recommend promising practices aligned with Indigenous learning andGwich’in values.
Supportdevelopment and implementation of student wellness tools and resources.
Maintaincomprehensive filing systems and enter client data into the database.
Willingnessto travel, including by small planes and ice roads.
Performadditional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Diplomain Business Administration, Career Development, Education, Social Science,or a related field.
Experiencein career development or related areas is an asset. Equivalentcombinations of education and experience will be considered.
Proficientin Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote), email,database applications, and internet use.
Strongawareness of cultural diversity and Northern Indigenous values andpractices.
Understandingof Indigenous Land Claims and Governance structures, including theGwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement.
Highlysensitive position – requires identity verification and criminal recordscheck.
