Overview Vertex is currently accepting applications for a full time, permanent Hydrogeologist to join our team in Sherwood Park, or Calgary, Alberta. The successful candidate will have experience with monitoring well and source well completions, groundwater monitoring, hydrogeological assessment (including aquifer testing and characterization) and contaminant hydrogeology.
Candidate Qualifications Sc. or M.Sc. in Hydrogeology or related physical science field of study
Professional designation (or eligible) a with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or Saskatchewan (APEGS)
3-5 years of project experience in hydrogeology, direct experience in Alberta is considered as asset
Inherent knowledge regarding processes and components of hydrogeology
Demonstrated experience in drilling oversight, borehole logging, monitoring/pumping well design, soil sampling and groundwater monitoring/sampling
Demonstrated experience in hydraulic conductivity (K) testing (rising/falling head), and field data management; ability to process and interpret field K test results is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to lead,
mentor and manage small teams under senior supervision
Working knowledge of and the ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines, requirements, and standards as required by Vertex business and client bases
Willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
Legally authorized to work in Canada with no restrictions
Responsibilities Provide technical expertise and guidance on various hydrogeology projects as required
Develop and manage project-specific budgets in alignment with the project’s unique scope and strategy
Provide input to the improvement and enhancement of internal procedures related to hydrogeology
Supervise, lead, and train personnel on groundwater monitoring techniques, single well response tests, and aquifer pumping tests
Supervise, lead, and train personnel on borehole drilling lithologic logging and installation of environmental monitoring wells and water source wells
Hydrogeological data analysis and interpretation in support of technical report preparation
Facilitate projects, including mobilization, demobilization, staffing requirements, and scheduling of equipment, materials and facilities to ensure work is executed efficiently and effectively
Share knowledge and expertise regardless of region, service line or sector responsibility
Demonstrate willingness to travel and participate in field work, primarily within western Canada and the ability to adapt to unpredictable and/or inclement field conditions and changing schedules
Other related duties
LOCATION This position will be based out of our Sherwood Park office, located at 2055 Premier Way, or our Calgary office located at 4240 Blackfoot Trail SE.
