Job Summary The controller is responsible for the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budget support, cash flow management, and compliance activities. This role provides accurate and timely financial information to senior management and helps strengthen financial discipline, operational performance, and decision-making across the organization.
Reporting Relationship The Controller reports to the Vice President of Finance and works closely with department heads, operations, external auditors, tax advisors, and other business partners.
Key Responsibilities Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
Perform month-end closing (e.g., reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, depreciation, etc.)
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, variance analyses, and key performance indicators
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to protect the organization's assets the company and reduce financial risks
Lead budgeting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making
Process tax returns (e.g., sales tax) and respond to government requests
Coordinate and participate in the year-end audit
Supervise and develop accounting team members, ensuring deadlines are met
Support ERP/accounting system improvements
Perform special projects, various financial analyses,



and other tasks assigned by senior management
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a controller, assistant controller, or manager role Accountant or similar position
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash flow management, and tax compliance
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Bilingualism in French and English is essential
Experience with Sage 300 software is preferred
Experience in an industrial environment is an asset
CPA designation is an asset
