Overview

High School Chemistry & Biology Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Oxford Learning Erin Mills is seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for someone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in science and math. Tutor-teachers do not need to plan lessons in advance, as all lessons are pre-planned, and applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors work during after-school and evening hours: Monday-Thursday year-round (3:45pm - 8:00pm) and Saturdays from September to June (10:00 am - 2:00 pm). A minimum availability of 2 days is required. Preferred structure is Day 1: Mondays and Wednesdays, or Day 2: Tuesdays and Thursdays. Commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is advantageous. This role is in-person; you must be able to commute to the location. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or similar certification in Sciences
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior Chemistry and Biology

Experience

- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Robust English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding




- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

- Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with responsibilities including teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teach online and in-person
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post-lesson notes
- Complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
