Lead experiential Outdoor Education programs as an Indigenous Land-Based Learning Naturalist with Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Engage students in grades JK to 12 through culturally relevant curriculum and hands-on learning.
This permanent role demands a robust commitment to Indigenous education. You will develop and facilitate Ontario Curriculum-based programs, incorporating Indigenous knowledge alongside contemporary learning practices. Building a connection with the land, this position also involves ensuring safety and effective operations at the Outdoor Education Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and lead Outdoor Education programs for students
• Integrate Indigenous curriculum content collaboratively
• Design and create educational material for visual learning
• Modify learning programs based on specific needs
• Conduct daily safety scans of outdoor spaces
Requirements:
• Three-year post-secondary diploma in environmental studies
• At least one year collaborating with Indigenous communities
• Valid First Aid & CPR certification
• Drivers’ license and use of own vehicle
• Advanced knowledge of Indigenous Ways of Knowing
