Contribute to essential legal research at the University of Ottawa this Fall 2026 as a Research Assistant in the Common Law Section. Work on program evaluation and help create a bilingual Startup Legal Playbook.
This is a new position at the Main Campus for an upper-year JD or graduate law student focused on business law. You'll support the Startup Law Clinic and gain hands-on experience drafting resources for startup founders. Ideal candidates will have prior involvement with the clinic and a strong interest in legal issues relevant to startups.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in program evaluation for the Startup Law Clinic
• Help draft a bilingual 'Startup Legal Playbook'
• Engage with legal issues faced by startups
• Collaborate with faculty on research projects
• Maintain documentation and reporting standards
Requirements:
• Upper-year JD or graduate law student
• Interest in business law
• Prior experience with the Startup Law Clinic preferred
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in English and French
