Job Description
Level 1 Network Support Specialist
Location: Bagotville, QC – Onsite
Compensation: $30-$50/hr Based on qualifications, experience, and final contract pricing.
Contract Term: Up to 152 days, with one (1) optional extension of up to 43 days.
Scope of Work / Tasks
We are seeking two (2) Level 1 Network Support Specialists for a contract opportunity supporting an IT project in Bagotville, Quebec.
The successful consultants will provide hands‑on IT and network support, with responsibilities spanning network environment support, IT equipment management, troubleshooting, technical documentation, configuration activities, and project coordination.
Support network and IT environments in an operational and project setting.
Receive, ship, move, unpack, install, and organize IT equipment.
Maintain accurate inventories and records of IT equipment and assets.
Track and document equipment throughout its lifecycle.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for IT and network-related issues.
Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding IT systems and infrastructure.
Support the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network equipment.
Review technical design, testing, implementation, and deployment documentation.
Review and maintain Systems Design Specifications and related technical documentation.
Support configuration management and documentation management activities.
Assist with analyzing new technical requirements and identifying capability deficiencies.
Conduct technical options analysis for systems and subsystems as required.
Prepare technical recommendations and supporting documentation.
Participate in project meetings and discussions with technical and project stakeholders.
Prepare meeting minutes, records of decisions, and action-item tracking.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
Maintain documentation and records associated with project activities.
Support knowledge transfer to project and operational staff.
Work collaboratively with project team members, technical personnel, users, and stakeholders.
Perform additional IT and network support activities as directed by the project authority.
Mandatory Qualifications
M1
Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting network environments, including experience with activities such as:
Receiving IT equipment
IT equipment inventory and accountability
Installation
Maintenance
Monitoring
Troubleshooting
Transfer of IT assets
IT support services
M2
Minimum two (2) years of experience producing, reviewing, modifying, or maintaining technical documentation related to IT systems or network environments.
Experience must include one or more of the following:
Systems Design Specifications
Installation documentation
Configuration documentation
Testing documentation
Deployment documentation
Technical implementation documentation
Transfer of deliverables and configuration information to operational staff
M3
Minimum one (1) year of experience coordinating activities with clients, users, stakeholders, or project team members in support of an IT project or operational environment.
M4
French-language capability.
M5
Valid Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance or eligibility to obtain the required clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting enterprise network environments.
Experience with network equipment installation and configuration.
Experience with IT asset management and inventory systems.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
Experience working with technical configuration documentation.
Experience reviewing systems design and implementation documentation.
Experience supporting IT infrastructure or network deployment projects.
Experience working within structured IT service management environments.
Experience preparing technical reports and project documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in French.
Experience working collaboratively with technical teams and project stakeholders.
Experience working in government, defence, public-sector, or other highly regulated IT environments.
Technical Setting
The successful consultants will work within an established IT infrastructure and project environment involving:
Enterprise network environments
Network infrastructure and equipment
IT hardware and peripherals
Network installation and troubleshooting
IT asset inventory and tracking
Configuration management
Technical documentation
Systems design and implementation documentation
Testing and deployment documentation
IT project documentation
Technical reporting and knowledge transfer
Security & Work Location
Security Clearance: Government of Canada Reliability Status
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Government of Canada security clearance for the duration of the engagement.
Work Location: Bagotville, QC – Fully Onsite
Working Hours: Generally between 0700 and 1700, as directed by the project authority.
Travel: None anticipated
Language: French
This position requires the successful consultant to work onsite and comply with all applicable workplace and security requirements.
