What You Will Be Doing As a Crane & Equipment Operator, you will play a key role in supporting daily construction operations while ensuring all equipment is operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site safety requirements. You will work alongside experienced skilled labourer, carpenters and site supervisors to support the successful construction of a multi-unit wood-frame hotel project. You will gain valuable hands-on experience while assisting with a variety of carpentry and construction tasks.
Operating the site self-erect crane to support construction activities for Meridian and multiple trades
Safely operating equipment including telehandlers, boom lifts, skid steers, and aerial work platforms
Performing daily equipment inspections, safety checks, and routine maintenance reporting
Coordinating material movement and deliveries throughout the job site
Assisting with loading, unloading, and staging of construction materials
Maintaining cleanliness and proper care of all equipment
Supporting site supervisors, sub-trades, and labour crews as required
Assisting with general labour tasks and site operations when equipment operation is not required
Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, operating procedures, and company standards
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
How You Will Succeed The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment. You are organized, adaptable, and communicate clearly with team members, trades, and site supervisors. You take pride in operating equipment safely and efficiently while contributing positively to the job site.
What You Will Need
Previous experience operating cranes with valid operator certification and/or licensing
Experience operating telehandlers, boom lifts, skid steers, and aerial work platforms
Valid equipment operator tickets and certifications are considered an asset
Previous experience on residential, hotel, and/or commercial construction projects
Valid driver’s license
Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures
Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
Solid work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Ability to perform well under pressure and meet project schedules
Steel-toed boots required
WHMIS and Fall Protection certifications preferred
Previous hands-on construction labour experience is considered an asset
