Position Summary
The Edmonton Arts Council recognizes our relationship with the Indigenous people of Treaty 6 territories. In doing so, we renew our commitment to continuing our collective journey toward the ideals of peace, friendship, and understanding at the core of that agreement.

The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC) is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to support and promote the arts community in Edmonton. The EAC works to increase the profile and involvement of arts and culture in all aspects of community life. Our programs and services are designed to realize Connections & Exchanges: A 10-Year Plan To Transform Arts and Heritage In Edmonton.

The Public Art team carries out the ambitions and values of the City of Edmonton Public Art Policy, creating a collection that is engaging and relevant to Edmonton’s residents and visitors. The EAC is currently recruiting for the Manager, Public Art, reporting to the Vice President, Programs and Services. The Manager is accountable for all aspects of operations and project management including:

People Leadership – Manages a team of advisors in their management of public art projects from planning to completion. Builds team capacity through collaboration and skill development, leading process management with clarity, consistency and proven competency. Mentors, coaches and guides team members by actively providing operational guidance, engaging in ongoing feedback, and leading opportunities on a team and individual level.

Program Development and Growth – Oversees the continued growth and management of the public art program. Engages with the Director,



Conservation and Collections Management to identify opportunities for growth of the collection. Provides oversight to the management of public art projects in alignment with the City policy, leading the annual planning process. Actively engages in the management and development of relationships with stakeholders such as City partners, artists, community members, and members of Public Art Advisory Group (PAAG). Operationalizes organizational strategic goals through the delivery and activation of public art projects.

Supporting Team Success –Works closely with members of Conservation and Collections Management to build and manage the Public Art Collection. Collaborates across the organization to share information and align success with other organizational teams. Supports the integration of the IDEA framework and Indigenous Principle to theexpectations of program delivery.

Administration – Strengthens processes that support the success of the team in their delivery of projects. Refines the use of platforms and systems for operational efficiency, including SmartSimple and File Maker Pro. Provides oversight to all electronic file management for the team and in alignment with other teams in the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

Your background may include a variety of education and experiences including a background in project management, public art, program delivery and people leadership.

An experienced leader with the proven ability to provide guidance to and develop a team with a variety of experiences and backgrounds.

Experience building and nurturing relationships with the ability to identify and serve a variety of needs and expectations.

A collaborative approach to team-oriented work.

Experience with platforms including SmartSimple, File Maker Pro or other project management software and Microsoft Office applications.

A proactive attitude towards workplace and public safety, with an understanding of the complex needs of working in a downtown public setting.

This is an in-person role working from the Prince of Wales Armouries.
