This position requires the ability to set up and operate manual machining equipment, including conventional engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, drills, saws, and boring machines to prescribed tolerances. The successful candidate will possess strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to produce precision components safely and efficiently while working under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager.

Salary: $65,000 -$80,000 based on Experience & Education Location: Mississauga, ON

Key Responsibilities:
Read and follow part manufacturing drawings
Fabricate parts for custom equipment
Use precision measuring tools to ensure parts conform to specifications on drawings
Inspect dimensions to ensure part is machined within tolerances specified in drawing
Ensuring parts are free of burrs, shavings, sharp edges, and are properly identified
Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
Properly and safely selects, aligns,
secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials into machines.
Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
Ideal Candidate Profile
Education :
General Machinist Certificate or equivalent experience
Experience :
At least 5+ years as a general machinist using the same or similar equipment
Able to run and operate a conventional Lathe (Turning) Machine proficiently
Work with surface grinders and radial drill
Must be able to work overtime on occasional basis
Ability to read & interpret blue prints, drawings, charts & tables.
Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Analytical problem solving skills
Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
Attention to detail, being able to handle multiple tasks and ability to meet deadlines
