Overview

Join the team at Oxford Learning Markham South as a part-time French teacher/tutor/coach. Our programs focus on teaching students how to learn French and improving their academic and study skills in a small group setting (maximum three students per teacher).

Responsibilities (Position Details)

- Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teach online and in-person sessions
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post-lesson notes
- Complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times

Qualifications

We encourage applicants who meet most of the following requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum
- Experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9–12 level (or equivalent)
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Position Requirements

- Hours:



after school and evenings (4:00pm – 8:00pm) and some Saturdays (10:00am – 3:00pm)
- A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is a plus
- Instruct class sessions in French
- This role is in-person and requires you to commute to the location; relocation packages are not available
- Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory

Salary : $18 / hour (probationary / negotiable)
