**Job Title: Forklift Operator – Order Picker**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on safely operating various types of forklifts to pick and assemble customer orders of fruits and vegetables, build and audit pallets for shipment, and load trailers in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment.

You will follow detailed pick lists, handle heavy lifting, and ensure product is stacked correctly to maintain quality during transport.
**Responsibilities**
Operate a crown end rider power pallet truck to pick customer orders of fruits and vegetables according to paper pick lists.

Use reach trucks or walkie pallet jacks to retrieve items and build pallets accurately based on order requirements.

Stack produce on pallets in a safe and logical manner, placing heavier items on the bottom and lighter, more delicate items on top to prevent damage (for example, potatoes on the bottom and tomatoes on top).

Audit completed pallets to confirm correct items, quantities, and overall accuracy before shipment.

Wrap pallets securely for shipping to ensure stability and product protection during transport.

Operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts to load trailers in a safe and efficient manner.

Handle heavy lifting as needed when picking, stacking, and organizing produce on pallets.

Work effectively in a cooler and warehouse environment, maintaining awareness of surroundings with multiple forklifts and packagers operating nearby.

Follow all safety procedures and forklift operating guidelines, including proper use of equipment and adherence to warehouse traffic rules.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily productivity targets and shipping deadlines.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring pallets, equipment, and materials are stored safely.

Adapt to the unique location and layout of the facility and follow provided directions for navigating the site.
**Essential Skills**
At least 1 year of experience operating a power pallet truck (crown end rider) for order picking and pallet assembly.

At least 1 year of experience operating a sit-down forklift or crown reach forklift.

Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting in a warehouse environment.

Valid forklift certification, obtained either in-house or through a third-party provider.

Ability to read and follow paper pick lists with strong attention to detail.

Skill in building stable, well-organized pallets with appropriate stacking of heavier and lighter products.

Experience working safely around multiple forklifts and other warehouse equipment.

Reliability to work the specified schedule, including mandatory weekend and weekday shifts and regular overtime.

Strong awareness of safety practices in a warehouse and cooler environment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience working in cooler or refrigerated warehouse environments is an asset.





Previous experience handling or working with produce is preferred.

Comfort working in open warehouse spaces with active packaging operations and frequent forklift traffic.

Ability to adapt to a location that may be more challenging to access with public transportation.

Willingness to learn the facility layout and follow specific instructions for accessing the site when standard mapping tools are inaccurate.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a warehouse that is maintained at approximately 10 degrees Celsius, with cooler areas ranging from about 0 to 4 degrees Celsius.

The space is open and active, with packagers working nearby and numerous forklifts operating throughout the facility, requiring constant situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.

The standard shift runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
