**Job Title: Shunt Truck Driver**
**Job Description**
This role operates within a busy less-than-truckload (LTL) cross-dock terminal in Edmonton, where you move trailers in the yard and position them at the dock doors to support efficient freight loading and unloading.

You read printed manifests to ensure trailers are placed correctly, and you may assist with dock work during slower periods to help keep freight moving.
**Responsibilities**
Operate a shunt truck safely and efficiently to move trailers from the yard to designated dock doors in a busy cross-dock environment.

Read and interpret printed manifests to identify trailer locations, destinations, and appropriate dock positions.

Hook up, unhook, and position trailers accurately at multiple bay doors to support incoming and outgoing freight.

Assist on the dock during down time, including helping with freight handling and general dock activities as required.

Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume terminal with multiple incoming and outgoing trailers.

Collaborate with a small team of dock workers, contributing to an "everyone helps out" culture.

Follow all safety procedures while operating the shunt truck and working on the dock.

Maintain awareness of yard and dock conditions, adjusting work practices to outdoor temperatures and open bay doors.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum of 1 year experience driving with a Class 1 license, preferably with shunt truck experience.

Valid Class 1 driver's license.

Proficiency operating a shunt truck to move and position trailers in a yard and at dock doors.

Ability to read and understand printed manifests and related freight documentation.

Forklift certification and experience operating a forklift.

Experience working in a cross-dock environment with multiple bay doors and high trailer traffic.

Comfort working in a fast-paced, physically active freight terminal.

Strong focus on safety while operating vehicles and equipment in a yard and dock setting.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Previous experience in an LTL terminal or similar freight environment.

Experience working on a small dock team and supporting coworkers as needed.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and assist with various dock tasks during slower shunt periods.

Strong communication skills to coordinate trailer movements and dock activities.

Reliability to work weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

**Work Environment**
This position is based in a busy LTL cross-dock terminal in Edmonton, featuring a large dock with multiple bay doors on both sides and frequent incoming and outgoing trailers.

The role follows a weekend schedule, with shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dress code is comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor temperatures, as bay doors are often open, along with appropriate safety footwear (STWB).

The environment is fast-paced, physically active, and focused on safe, efficient freight handling and trailer movement.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edmonton, AB.
**Pay and Perks**
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Edmonton,AB.
