Collaborate with the Bennett Lab as a Molecular Technician focusing on grassland ecosystems at the University of Saskatchewan. Engage in vital research examining multi-trophic interactions.
This role is a fixed-term contract within the Department of Plant Sciences, where you will be instrumental in DNA extraction, sequencing library preparation, and critical sample processing. Your work will support team-oriented studies aimed at understanding the effects of plant genetic compositions on soil microbial communities. Robust interpersonal skills are required for effective coordination across various research groups.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct DNA extraction and sequencing for samples
• Process and analyze soil and insect samples
• Coordinate sample collection across multiple projects
• Engage in NIR spectroscopy and elemental analyses
• Support multi-disciplinary research initiatives
Requirements:
• MSc in ecology, agriculture, or related sciences
• Experience with DNA library preparation and extraction
• Knowledge of high throughput sequencing methods
• Excellent verbal and written English skills
• Motivated individual with robust organizational skills
