In‑House Legal Counsel II, Accident Benefits Weekly hours may fluctuate depending on business needs.You’ll be part of Canada’s largest in‑house P&C; insurance litigation team, focusing on accident benefits, loss transfer and priority dispute files while embracing a flexible, hybrid work model.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range (based on a 35‑hour workweek): 128,300 – 156,800 CAD
Annual bonus target: 12% of base salary, potential payout up to twice the target
Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) with Intact matching 50% of net shares
Defined‑benefit pension plan providing guaranteed income for life
Additional benefits: telemedicine, wellness account, flexible work arrangements, hybrid model, possibility to purchase up to 5 extra days off per year, share plan & savings options up to 12% of salary or more
Responsibilities Manage a busy practice with autonomy while collaborating with a high‑performing team of lawyers, adjusters, and legal support professionals.
Help Intact achieve strategic goals related to indemnity and expense control.
Handle accident benefits disputes, loss transfer and priority dispute files from beginning to end.
Appear before the License Appeal Tribunal and prepare written and oral submissions as needed.
Assess claims with a focus on controlling indemnity while maintaining a pragmatic, efficient resolution focus.
Share knowledge and coach colleagues within and outside the department.
Qualifications Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
Minimum 5+ years of insurance litigation experience.
Proven experience in assessing and handling Accident Benefits files.
Experience before the License Appeal Tribunal.
Experience attending private arbitrations (asset).




Experience handling catastrophic accident benefit claims (asset).
Strong organizational, communication and negotiation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with a natural ability to work collaboratively and build effective client relationships.
Ability to think outside the box, find novel solutions and be a pragmatic problem solver.
Proficiency in technologies, tools and software programs to optimize operational efficiency and decision making, including AI tools, iManage, ACL and Microsoft Office suite.
