Position Overview:
The Junior to Intermediate Resource Engineer will be based in the Campbell River office and will report to the Senior Project Manager and be a part of the engineering resource team. The role supports the OEL team involved in resource road design, bridge design, and road alignment feasibility studies. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers and field staff to help deliver high-quality design packages from conceptual stages through to record drawings.
Major Job Functions:
Resource Road and Bridge Design
Site surveys, structure inspections, and construction field reviews
Producing engineering plans and designs
Construction reviews for a wide variety of civil and resource engineering projects
Remote access Feasibility Studies
Report writing and editing
Project scheduling
Capital and operational cost estimating
Preparing project proposals
Project management and contract administration
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
Topographic surveying, layout, and record surveys
Resource Road and Bridge design
Flexibility, organizational and time management skills
Enthusiasm and passion for both forestry, mine, oil & gas, and working outdoors
Quality assurance and control methods in civil construction
Excellent attention to detail, work accuracy/numeracy and quality orientated
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business
Working knowledge of road specific geoscience and geohazards
Ability to work well in a project engineering team environment
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
A committed and positive attitude while being committed to client needs and relationships building
Ability and willingness to travel to remote sites within western Canada
Education and Experience:
Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng. (Fourth year EIT will also be considered)
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering degree
Minimum 5 years of experience in road and bridge engineering
Familiar with RoadEng, AutoCAD, and GIS software
Competent with Excel and MS Project
Proficient in topographic surveying; RTK and Conventional
Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Salary:
$85,000-$120,000 annually commensurate on experience, full-time permanent position. The lower portion of the range reflects the Junior Resource Engineer responsibilities. The upper portion of the range applies to candidates demonstrating increased experience, expanded responsibilities, or progression towards an Experienced Resource Engineer Position.
