Salary: $53,810 - $85,156 per annum, prorated to FTE, based on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (0.8-1.0 FTE)
The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Grade School Class Teacher to join our Grade School faculty. This full-time position involves leading a class of up to 30 students through their foundational year of elementary school, fostering a love of learning through the rich and developmentally attuned Waldorf curriculum.
The successful candidate will bring a deep commitment to Waldorf education, strong classroom leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. A passion for teaching, a warm and grounded presence, and clear communication with students, colleagues, and families are essential.
Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver daily Main Lesson and track classes (subject-specific blocks) aligned with both the Waldorf curriculum and BC Ministry of Education learning outcomes
Prepare and maintain a well-ordered, nurturing classroom environment
Assess and document student progress
Provide oral and written progress reports, participate in parent-teacher conferences, and maintain clear communication with families
Serve as a school liaison for parents and lead regular parent evenings
Attend and participate in faculty meetings, school events, and festivals
Support school life and collegial work, including substitute teaching when required
Commit to ongoing career development
Qualifications & Requirements BC Teaching Certificate, or the ability to qualify through the BC Ministry of Education's Teacher Certification Branch
Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate or willingness to begin training within two years of hire
Five or more years of Waldorf class teaching experience is preferred
Fluency in written and spoken English
Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
