New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to support our client’s Business Strategy and Improvement team. This role will focus on analyzing large datasets, developing data visualizations and business intelligence solutions, and translating business requirements into technical specifications.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience with SQL, Power BI, data modelling, data warehousing, ETL, and source-system analysis, while also supporting requirements gathering, documentation, standards development, and business analysis activities. The role will work across existing on-premise data warehouse environments and modern analytics technologies and will collaborate closely with internal business and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution requirements.
Perform data profiling and source-system analysis using SQL and other applicable tools.
Gather, document, and analyze business and technical requirements.
Design, build, and deploy BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and analytical data products.
Design and develop reusable data analytics frameworks incorporating data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores, data models, Power BI security, and Power BI workspaces.
Design relational and analytical data models based on business and technical requirements.
Develop data pipelines and ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, integration, and loading.
Develop solutions using SQL, M Query, DAX, Power Query, REST APIs, OLAP cubes, and related BI technologies.
Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop.
Configure and support Power BI Service, including workspaces, Dataflows, Datamarts, security,
and automated data-source refreshes.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing business intelligence and data warehouse solutions.
Analyze source systems to identify transformation, integration, and data-quality requirements.
Design and support reusable frameworks for on-premise enterprise data warehouse environments.
Prepare technical designs, specifications, requirements documentation, and supporting technical documentation.
Review, streamline, and standardize technical and operational documentation.
Develop practical standards and processes that promote consistency and are maintainable by internal teams.
Provide technical advice and assistance to internal business and technology stakeholders.
Present technical concepts, recommendations, and proposals in clear, non-technical language where required.
Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the broader team.
Mandatory Requirements Strong experience architecting and delivering Business Intelligence and/or Enterprise Data Warehouse (BI/EDW) solutions.
Robust SQL skills and experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server and/or Oracle.
Extensive experience developing business intelligence and analytics solutions using Power BI.
Experience designing, building, and deploying dashboards, reports, and other BI solutions.
Experience with data modelling,
data analysis, and data visualization.
Experience designing and implementing reusable frameworks for on-premise data warehouse environments.
Experience developing complex data pipelines and ETL processes.
Development experience with SQL Server, REST APIs, OLAP cubes, and BI analytics technologies.
Advanced experience with Power BI Service, including Dataflows and Datamarts.
Experience developing Power BI reports and configuring automated data-source refreshes.
Experience analyzing source systems and identifying data transformation requirements.
Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications.
Demonstrated business analysis and requirements-gathering experience.
Ability to prepare technical designs and detailed technical specifications.
Experience reviewing, improving, and standardizing technical and operational documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with organizational data and information.
Preferred Requirements Experience with Microsoft Fabric for data integration, data warehousing, analytics, semantic modelling, and enterprise reporting.
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
Experience using Azure DevOps to support project delivery.
Experience with Python and/or R.
Relevant Power BI, Microsoft, data analytics, data engineering, or business intelligence certifications.
