Position Summary Thales Canada is looking for a Life Cycle and Materiel Manager (LCMM) - Combat Systems Specialist to support its non-Combatant In‑Service Support Programs for the Royal Canadian Navy.
The LCMM - Combat Systems Specialist is responsible for engineering support and technical oversight of various systems including but not limited to navigation, communications, command and control, data processing, above‑and‑under‑water sensors, and ship weapons systems onboard Royal Canadian Navy platforms. Reporting to the Operational Support Manager and working with internal and external stakeholders, this role manages activities to establish and maintain configuration and design intent of assigned systems and to manage changes through end‑of‑life and divestment. The successful candidate will leverage existing knowledge of marine systems to act as a subject matter expert and main technical point of contact. The principal objective is to maximize effectiveness and efficiency while minimizing life cycle cost (LCC) for supported systems.
Regulatory Compliance Requirement This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access.
Key Areas of Responsibility Perform life cycle and materiel management functions including equipment obsolescence, material compatibility, alternate part investigations, maintenance management, and disposal management.
Support and manage activities associated with vessel design and configuration control, including functional and physical configuration audits, and documentation of deviations and waivers.
Provide technical advice to enable correct operation and maintenance of auxiliary and mechanical equipment and systems.
Monitor systems and equipment performance via reports such as Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs), Pre‑installation Failures (PIFs), and technical investigations (TIs).




Ensure appropriate spare parts levels are maintained and support catalogue processes.
Conduct technical investigations into combat systems, equipment, and software issues, including failure analysis and solution recommendations.
Develop and review technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance instructions, test and trial agendas, and engineering change documentation and drawings.
Analyze requirements related to baseline changes in ship configuration, equipment, and software.
Liaise with OEMs, service providers, and ship staff to investigate and resolve defects.
Prepare documented work scopes suitable for solicitation of quotations from external resources (OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities, or specialist service providers).
Prepare and manage work packages and cost estimates for customer approval.
Minimum Requirements 3‑year technical program diploma (Technologist) or 2‑year technical program diploma (Technician) in a marine technical field from a recognized institute; or
Certification as a technologist or technician by a recognized provincial, state, or national licensing body; or
Certification as one of the following Canadian Armed Forces technical trades: QL6B Naval Electronics Technician, RQPO1 WEng Tech
Minimum 8 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry within the last 15 years.
Extensive knowledge of combat systems and equipment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with safety standards.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Language: English (Essential).
Preferred Qualifications Minimum 10 years' experience as a technical specialist in marine communications, navigation, or naval combat systems.
Previous experience with the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard.
Previous experience as a Life Cycle Materiel Manager in communications, navigation, or naval combat systems.
Demonstrated project management experience.




Familiarity with DND maintenance management and implementation system “DRMIS”.
Experience delivering in‑service support for marine operational assets.
Familiarity with certification requirements such as Classification Society, SOLAS/IMO, IEEE, CSA, Naval Ship Code, and DND regulations.
Physical Demands Predominantly office work but occasional travel to dockyards and onboard naval ships is required. May be required to perform inspections on naval ships involving bending, twisting, and working aloft.
Special Position Requirements Schedule: 40 hours per week. Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required to support ships.
Compensation The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is Total Target Cash (TTC) $81,000–$105,000–$129,000 CAD annually. This range reflects typical pay for similar jobs in industry and region and is one data point among many used for pay decisions.
