FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE The primary objective of the Project Manager (PM) is to deliver projects on time and on budget, with a focus on exceptional client satisfaction, quality, safety, and value-added services.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY The Project Manager is accountable to the Construction Manager/Branch Manager and is responsible for managing and overseeing all activities related to the planning through to completion of a project including estimating, scheduling, resourcing, contract preparation and negotiation, submittal and material procurement, and management of client needs and expectations.
The PM oversees overseeing and directing the project by communicating directly with client, consultants, sub-contractors and internal resources regarding project status reports and work to ensure the execution of the project adheres to the contract plans and specifications.
NATURE AND SCOPE The Project Manager receives general supervision from the Construction Manager/Branch Manager. The PM relies on project management as well as construction and petroleum experience, business acumen and reliable judgment to execute goals.
The PM interacts effectively with customers, sub- contractors, suppliers and Phoenix team members including Estimators, Site Supervisors, and other PMs. They can work well independently as well as collaborate successfully to carry out PM responsibilities.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop the project scope of work requirements, cost estimates, project plan based on predefined customer strategy and budget
Define activities, sequences of events, dependencies and duration of tasks
Plan and coordinate all aspects of the project, including hiring contractors and working with engineers, architects and vendors
Control the time, cost and quality of projects, determine the scheduling of different phases based on established deadlines and day-today project management
Negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors and other workers
Prepare schedules and forecasts
Secure building permits, licenses, utility locates,



and delivery of materials and equipment to project site
Address project issues
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project address project issues
Communicate and enforce company safety standards and operating practices
Represent the client’s best interest with a value-added approach
Develop short- and long-term goals both personally and for project staff
Post-project reviews with the intention of identifying best practices and cost breakdown
Complete required client safety training
Establish excellent working relationships with all team members to ensure high performance team and project success performance team and project success

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Demonstrated effective project management skills
Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards etc. and their impact on project activities
Strong ability to manage multiple projects at different stages of renovation/construction
Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent listening ability and exemplary written and oral communication skills
Exceptional organizational and planning skills
Ability to multitask, plan and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
Supervisory skills & ability to resolve conflicts
Technically competent with various software programs




Proficiency in project management software
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Administration standards
Effective contract negotiating skills
Understand basic accounting procedures including profits and losses
Possess an exceptional level of professionalism, integrity, and customer focus
Driven and success oriented
Effective decision maker
Ability to work well independently and in a high performance, quick-paced team environment
High degree of energy and ability to prioritize and manage time to maximize productivity and effectiveness

QUALIFICATIONS 2 – 10 years related experience working in midstream or downstream petroleum
Minimum 2 years direct work experience in a project management capacity
Engineering and/or Design experience is considered an asset
Post-secondary education in relevant field or combination of education and experience is considered an asset
Project Management Certification or in process would be an asset
Experience in construction, industrial and/or petroleum industry is required
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation·
Travel is required. Candidates must be willing to travel within Atlantic Canada.
Valid Canadian passport
Fluent English language skills
Compensation based on experience with possibility to increase
