THE GLYNMILL INN in Corner Brook, NL, is seeking a full-time, permanent Assistant General Manager to join our team.

This position reports directly to the General Managerand plays a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, working Monday through Friday and ensuring the highest standards of service are maintained throughout the hotel. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations, ensuring sufficient management and providing strategic direction
Help implement and enforce hotel policies and procedures
Conduct recruiting initiatives along with department supervisors
Ensure that the hotel facilities are well-maintained and meet quality standards
Ensure supervisors are training staff on all procedures, policies, and requirements for their role
Staff relations, including scheduling, payroll, evaluations, recruitment, and discipline
Maintaining guest needs, ensuring the highest customer satisfaction.
Communicating with guests regularly, answering questions, concerns and complaints as needed.
Ordering supplies, tracking inventory, and completing the month-end count and control
Knowledge of room availability at all times, for future and present dates and monitoring these dates regularly for inventory control purposes.
Performing routine spot checks of housekeeping inspections to ensure quality
Oversee events when required, including booking and posting through the banquets/catering system
Ensure supervisors adhere to budget guidelines and to the highest standards
Approve and control of all inventory. Adhere to budgets and meet financial targets
Will need to negotiate with clients for use of facilities for catering, parties, banquets, etc.
Monthly inventory counts on the 1st day of every month
Ensure the practice of health and safety regulations
Oversee and participate in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee
Provide an environment with emphasis on motivation and teamwork
Create unique marketing ideas. Monitor food and beverage trends and bring forth ideas
Ensure all POS items/costing are up to date at all times
Maintain organized files and records.
Assist with and prepare reports, monitor revenues and expenses, and coordinate with accounts payable/receivable.
Daily cash handling and reconciliation reports
Directly reports to the General Manager, providing regular updates on performance, budgets, guest feedback, and team dynamics.
Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.
Other duties as required
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
Strong customer service skills coupled with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a managerial role
Experience in food/beverage and operations, preferably in the hospitality industry. An asset
Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or Hotel Management is an asset.
Exceptional communication and organization skills
Experience with budgeting and reporting structures
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Organized with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced workplace
