In this pivotal role, you'll support legal efforts in consultation and self-determination for Indigenous individuals and communities. With a solid background of over 4-7 years in litigation, you will draft legal documents, conduct research, and appear before courts. Additionally, you will facilitate sessions to gather Indigenous knowledge for law-making, reinforcing your impact on community empowerment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with major litigation files and negotiate settlements
• Draft affidavits, pleadings, and legislation
• Manage client files and maintain communication
• Prepare evidence and participate in trials
• Conduct community sessions focused on Indigenous knowledge
Requirements:
• Minimum 4-7 years of litigation experience
• Expertise in advocacy and oral skills
• Solid research and analytical abilities
• Familiarity with governmental and Indigenous negotiation processes
• Good standing member of the Law Society of Ontario
