Registered Compounding Pharmacy Technician – Non-Sterile Compounding
Company: Mint Health + Drugs

Employment Type: Full-Time

Build Something Meaningful With Us
At Mint Health + Drugs, we believe pharmacy should be personal.

Not every patient fits into a standard medication or dosage form. Our compounding program allows us to work alongside patients, prescribers and healthcare professionals to create individualized medication solutions when commercially available options don't meet a patient's needs.

We're looking for an experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician with a passion for non-sterile compounding to join our specialized team at Blue Bottle Pharmacy.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of pharmacy: precision, calculations, formulation preparation, quality control and creating customized medications. You'll work closely with our Compounding Pharmacist and pharmacy team to deliver high-quality preparations while helping us continuously improve the efficiency and capacity of our compounding program.

What You'll Do
Prepare Customized Compounded Medications
You’ll play an important hands‑on role in the preparation of non‑sterile compounded medications.

Your work may include:

Preparing customized compounds according to prescriptions,
Accurately weighing, measuring, mixing and preparing ingredients
Performing pharmaceutical calculations within your scope of practice
Supervising pharmacy assistants in preparing capsules, creams, ointments, gels, liquids and other customized dosage forms
Selecting and preparing appropriate equipment, ingredients and packaging
Completing accurate compounding records and required documentation
Performing final checks for completed preparations
Identifying discrepancies or potential quality concerns and escalating them appropriately

Our compounding services may include:

Customized capsules and oral preparations
Dermatological creams, ointments, lotions and gels
Bio-identical hormone preparations
Pediatric formulations
Customized strengths and dosage forms
Preservative‑free, dye‑free,

alcohol‑free or other patient‑specific formulations where appropriate
Medications that are commercially unavailable or discontinued

Quality & Patient Safety
Compounding requires an exceptional level of precision and attention to detail.

You'll help maintain strong standards for:

Master Formulation Records and Compounding Records
Ingredient lot numbers and traceability
Beyond‑use dates and storage requirements
Accurate weighing, measuring and pharmaceutical calculations
Equipment cleaning, maintenance and calibration
Compounding area cleanliness and organization
Quality control procedures
Ingredient and supply inventory
Monitoring ingredient expiry dates and stock rotation
Reducing ingredient and preparation waste
Documentation and record keeping
Medication incident and near‑miss reporting
Compliance with applicable Mint policies, procedures and compounding standards

You'll be expected to consistently follow established procedures while speaking up when something doesn't look right.

Help Us Improve How We Compound
We're looking for more than someone who simply completes the day's production.

As part of our specialized compounding team, you'll be encouraged to identify opportunities to make our processes safer, faster and more consistent.

This could include:

Improving prescription entry and preparation workflows
Helping streamline pharmaceutical calculations and commonly used formulations
Identifying unnecessary or duplicated steps
Organizing ingredients and equipment to improve workflow
Helping maintain and improve compounding templates and practice tools
Supporting inventory management and reducing unnecessary waste
Identifying recurring workflow issues and recommending solutions

We want someone who takes pride in their workspace and sees opportunities to make a good process even better.

What We're Looking For
Required
Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
Current registration and practice permit as a Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy
Strong mathematical and pharmaceutical calculation skills
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to follow detailed procedures consistently
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy
Ability to work independently while collaborating with pharmacists and the broader pharmacy team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and quality

Previous non-sterile compounding experience is strongly preferred.

Experience with one or more of the following would be considered an asset:

Customized capsules
Creams, ointments, lotions and gels
Bio-identical hormone preparations
Pediatric preparations
Pharmaceutical calculations
Master Formulation Records and Compounding Records
Ingredient inventory and traceability
Compounding equipment and calibration
Kroll pharmacy software

Who Will Thrive in This Role
You’ll likely be a great fit if you:

Enjoy detailed, hands‑on technical work
Take pride in accuracy and consistency
Like understanding why a process works, not simply following instructions
Notice inefficiencies and look for ways to improve them
Are comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your responsibilities
Enjoy learning new formulations and developing specialized pharmacy skills
Work well in a cooperative environment
Understand that quality and patient safety come before speed
Want to become an important part of a growing specialized pharmacy service

Why Join Mint Health + Drugs?
We offer:

Competitive compensation based on experience
Health and dental benefits
Life insurance, long-term disability and AD&D;
Health spending account
Paid vacation and personal days
