Position Summary
The Veterinary Assistant plays a key role within the Veterinary Services Department by supporting the Clinical Veterinarian and the Veterinary Services leadership team in maintaining the highest standards of animal health, animal welfare, and regulatory compliance.

Under the supervision of the Team Leader, Manager, and Clinical Veterinarian, the Veterinary Assistant provides veterinary care, monitors animal health, administers medical treatments, maintains medical documentation, conducts animal welfare assessments, and participates in various technical and administrative activities. This position is essential to ensuring that all research animals receive exceptional care in accordance with established veterinary, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Animal Health & Veterinary Care

Assist the Clinical Veterinarian in providing high-quality veterinary care and animal welfare services.

Monitor, assess, and document the health status of healthy, sick, or injured animals.

Maintain accurate and complete medical records for animals under care.

Participate in diagnostic investigations and laboratory testing as required.

Administer treatments, medications, and veterinary procedures prescribed by the Clinical Veterinarian.

Promptly report any concerns related to animal health, animal welfare, or treatment outcomes.

Required Qualifications
Education

D.E.C. in Biomedical Laboratory Technology or a related scientific or animal health field.

Skills & Experience

Experience working with laboratory animals, veterinary care, animal health, or within a research setting.

Strong observational skills and the ability to recognize changes in animal health and behavior.

Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.





Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare and regulatory compliance.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Language Requirements

Fluency in French is required for internal communications.

English reading and writing skills are mandatory, as all study documentation is produced in English.
