Banner Functional Consultant Banner Student Location: Toronto, ON Work Model: Remote Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent (FTE) Experience: 4 6 Years Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Banner Functional Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in Ellucian Banner Student to support implementations and modernization initiatives for colleges and universities.

The consultant will work closely with higher education clients to deliver functional solutions across Person Record Management, Catalog & Curriculum, Registration, and Banner Student Self-Service .

The ideal candidate will have strong functional knowledge of the Banner Student Information System, along with experience in configuration, conversion, implementation, testing, deployment, business process analysis, troubleshooting, and client consulting .

Key Responsibilities Support and lead functional activities for Ellucian Banner Student implementations and deployments .

Configure, test, validate, and deploy Banner Student functionality based on client business requirements.

Support data conversion, implementation, testing, and production deployment activities.

Work closely with clients to understand business processes, requirements, challenges, and objectives.

Bridge the gap between functional requirements, technical teams, and client business objectives .

Provide functional guidance and recommendations aligned with Banner and higher education best practices .

Lead customers toward process improvement, transformation, modernization, and operational efficiency .

Identify functional issues and impediments and develop appropriate remediation strategies.

Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for complex functional issues.

Participate in functional workshops, requirements discussions, demonstrations, and solution reviews.

Communicate effectively with client stakeholders, project leaders, internal teams, and technical resources.





Prepare for and deliver high-quality consulting services throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Collaborate with Professional Services teams to improve implementation methodologies, service artifacts, documentation, and recommended practices.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the maturity of Banner implementation practices.

Manage assigned activities according to business impact, priorities, project timelines, and client commitments.

Ensure deliverables meet project objectives and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction .

Required Skills & Experience 4 6 years of overall professional experience . 3 5+ years of hands-on Ellucian Banner experience , including implementation and deployment.

Solid functional experience with Ellucian Banner Student .

Experience supporting Banner Student across the following functional areas: Person Record Management Catalog & Curriculum Registration Banner Student Self-Service Experience with Banner configuration, conversion, implementation, testing, and deployment .

Strong understanding of higher education business processes and administrative systems.

Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into effective Banner functional solutions.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and root-cause analysis skills.

Ability to work effectively with both functional and technical teams.

Strong communication, presentation, documentation, and client-facing skills.

Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities while meeting project deadlines.

Strong adaptability and willingness to learn additional Ellucian products and solutions .

Preferred Qualifications Experience with additional Ellucian Banner modules .

Experience with other Ellucian products and solutions .

Experience supporting SaaS implementations and cloud-based higher education solutions .

Experience with Banner modernization and transformation initiatives.

Experience working in colleges, universities, or other higher education institutions .

Experience delivering end-user demonstrations, functional training, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
