JOB SUMMARY:The Payroll & Benefits Manager is a dedicated and detail-oriented individual. This position offers an opportunity to work in a cooperative and supportive environment, contributing to the success of a company that values integrity and professionalism.REPORT CHAIN:Finance DirectorDURATION:Full Tim Flexible Hours Year-RoundPRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for administration of full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for SilverStar’s employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracyCoordinate the payroll process with all departments for the purpose of processing payroll in compliance with established guidelinesAssist with maintenance of HRIS system configuration and testing as neededImplement payroll process improvements as neededPrepare and issue Records of EmploymentPrepare WCB and EHT reports and remittancesResponsible for processing T4s and all payroll year-end requirementsPrepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc payroll reportsProcess salary increases, bonuses, retro pay and other pay adjustmentsMonitor absence reporting to verify eligibility and accuracyPerform payroll-related G/L account reconciliationsCommunicate with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll and related reporting requirementsMaintain detailed records and documentation in written and electronic formats of payroll information and processes for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirementsVerify a variety of payroll related information (e.g.,
time sheets, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracyRespond to all inquiries arising from questions about payroll and provide information and / or directionLiase with Human Resources to ensure employees are onboarded / enrolled in the HRIS systemEnsure compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies / proceduresBenefits AdministrationProvide overall administration of benefit plansEnroll, maintain and remove employees from company benefit plans, including retirement savings plansProvide benefit information and review documentation with employees enrolling in benefitsPerform regular invoice, payroll and G/L reconciliationsAssist with annual benefit renewalsEnsure compliance with plan requirementsSKILLS REQUIREDMust be familiar with Paycom or be willing to be trained.Minimum 3 yrs. payroll experience for salaried and hourly employeesPossess or working towards payroll certifications (PCP / PLP)Demonstrated tact and professionalism when dealing with sensitive files and informationStrong verbal/written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organizationCurrent knowledge of legislations such as Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency and Workers’ CompensationAdvance proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).Work well in a team environment and independently.Passing of criminal background check required.Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
