Job Title: Senior DBA Location: Toronto, ON M5B 2B8 Duration: 12 Months + Extensions Summary: The role is required to provide specialized administrative and operational support for a complex, multi-platform database environment that supports more than 20 applications across SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2.

The resource will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of critical database systems, supporting major database upgrade initiatives, disaster recovery readiness, cross-platform data migration activities, and participation in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Given the breadth and complexity of the environment, this position is essential to maintaining stable and reliable database services for business-critical business applications.

Description The DBA will support a complex, multi platform database environment (20+ applications), including SQL Server clusters with Always On, Oracle 19c multitenant architecture on RHEL, Oracle 11g, 12c on RHEL DB2 on Windows, and DB2 v12, v13 on z/OS.

Responsibilities include high availability management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, DR readiness, major SQL Server upgrade initiatives ( 2019 2022, 2022 - 2025,2019 2025), cross platform data movement, and participation in a 24/7 on call rotation to ensure continuous availability of critical systems.

The environment includes both modern and legacy systems, requiring robust cross platform database administration skills.

hosting SQL Server instances for high availability.

Always On Availability Groups - Managing AG replicas, failovers, listener configuration, synchronization health, and read only routing.

Disaster Recovery Environment - Maintaining DR replicas, validating failover readiness, and participating in annual DR testing. SQL Server Upgrade Projects Planning and executing major upgrade paths: 2019 20222; 2022 - 2025, 2019 - 2025 Includes compatibility assessments, deprecated feature reviews, testing, rollback planning, and post upgrade optimization.

Oracle Database (19c on RHEL, 11g & 12c on REHL) Oracle 19c on Red Hat Linux - Administration of CDB/PDB architecture, patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

Pluggable Databases (PDBs) - Creating, cloning, unplug/plug operations, and resource management.

Oracle 11g & 12c on REHL- Legacy platform support including RMAN and migration planning. IBM DB2 (Windows & z/OS) DB2 on Windows - Instance management, database configuration, and data copy/transfer operations between environments. DB2 v12/v13 on z/OS - Supporting mainframe based DB2 including schema changes, utilities, performance tuning, and DRE participation. 24/7 On Call Support (Critical Responsibility) 24/7 On Call Coverage - Participation in a rotating on call schedule to provide round the clock support for production incidents, performance degradations, availability issues, and emergency recoveries across all supported platforms.
