Their platform helps independent building suppliers deliver exceptional customer experiences by streamlining commerce, sales, accounts receivable, operations, and customer service.
They are a curious, solution-driven, customer-focused team that is passionate about building technology that solves real-world problems and helps businesses operate more efficiently.
About the Role We are looking for a highly autonomous Staff Software Developer to join our client's growing engineering team.
This is not a role where you will simply be assigned tickets. You will act as a true product and technical partner, taking ownership of complex engineering challenges, designing scalable solutions, and directly influencing the evolution of the platform.

You will leverage modern development tools, including AI-powered technologies and LLMs, to accelerate development, improve productivity, and deliver meaningful business impact.
What You'll Do Own the Full Development Lifecycle Design, architect, build, test, deploy, and maintain scalable features across web and mobile platforms using modern engineering practices.
Drive Platform Integrations Build infrastructure, tools, and processes that improve efficiency and significantly reduce the time required to onboard and integrate new customers.
Partner with Product and Business Teams Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure engineering decisions align with business objectives and customer needs.

Work directly with customers and technology partners when needed to understand requirements, solve technical challenges, and deliver customized integrations.
Leverage AI to Improve Engineering Velocity Use LLMs and modern AI development tools to accelerate workflows, understand complex systems, improve code quality, and increase delivery speed.
Help improve system reliability, observability, scalability, and performance while mentoring other engineers and contributing to a strong technical culture.
What You'll Bring Technical Expertise 10+ years of professional software development experience.
Strong experience designing and building scalable backend services using Node.js.
Experience with GraphQL is preferred.
Proven ability to build complex web applications using React and/or React Native.
Engineering Leadership Experience operating at a Staff Engineer level, driving technical direction without requiring formal authority.
Strong understanding of scalable architecture, system design, integrations, and distributed systems.
Ability to make thoughtful technical decisions while balancing business needs and long-term maintainability.
Startup Mindset A solid bias toward action with the ability to operate effectively in an environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.
A track record of taking ownership, solving difficult problems, and delivering measurable impact.
Comfortable working across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.
Builder's Mindset Genuine passion for technology and building products that solve meaningful business problems.
Experience in the building materials, construction, or related industries is an asset, but not required.
Salary range: $160,000 - $220,000 CAD annually, depending on experience.
This is a fully remote opportunity open to candidates located in Canada.
