Pursue a fully funded PhD in Nuclear Engineering, focusing on HALEU criticality modelling to enhance safety in uranium processing. Collaborate with esteemed experts while gaining invaluable research experience.
This 3.5-year PhD project, commencing in October 2026, is primarily designed for Home rate candidates. You will address the complexities of criticality safety associated with HALEU fuels through advanced computational techniques. The project encourages development of detailed models to support future fuel cycle facility design.
Key Responsibilities:
• Model criticality scenarios in HALEU processing
• Examine impact of materials and conditions on neutron activity
• Collaborate with UK National Nuclear Laboratory
• Perform lab visits for comprehensive research exposure
• Strengthen modelling skills for future nuclear applications
Requirements:
• Degree (at least 2.1 honours) in relevant discipline
