Students and staff at Mia School acknowledge that our school is located on Treaty One Land. The traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininiwak, Anishininewuk, Dene and Dakota Oyate peoples, and on the homeland of the Metis Nation.
We respect the treaties that were made on these territories. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we are committed to working in partnership with the Indigenous communities.
As a Muslim school community, we believe the land and its resources are an Amanah from Allah. We recognize and respect the Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land for generations, and we are committed to caring for the land with respect, justice and mercy.
