**Sander Operator**
**Job Description**
The Sander Operator is responsible for pre-sanding wood parts to precise quality standards before they move on to final sanding and downstream production.

This role focuses on prioritizing parts with Non-Conforming Action (NCA) forms to keep critical jobs progressing, carefully tracking quality through inspection sign-offs and documentation.

The position involves operating a Heesemann sander, using small hand sanders and razor knives, and handling materials safely and efficiently in a production environment.
**Responsibilities**
Pre-sand wood parts to meet established quality standards before they advance to final sanding and further production processes.

Prioritize and process items with Non-Conforming Action (NCA) forms ahead of standard production to ensure critical jobs move through the line efficiently.

Obtain exit inspection sign-offs for parts that meet quality requirements before moving them to the next stage of production.

Complete NCA documentation for any defective or non-conforming parts to ensure accurate tracking and resolution of quality issues.

Operate a Heesemann sander and small hand sanders to achieve smooth, consistent finishes on particle board, laminates, and hardwood materials.

Use razor knives and other hand tools safely and effectively to perform detailed sanding and finishing tasks.

Handle materials and finished parts with care, including moving items between production stations and cabinetmaking areas as needed.

Perform basic inspection of parts during and after sanding to identify defects, non-conformities, and areas requiring rework.

Utilize pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to move products and materials within the production area.

Follow production schedules and instructions to maintain workflow and meet output targets.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, supporting overall shop cleanliness and safety.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

Communicate clearly in English with team members and supervisors regarding quality issues, production priorities, and safety concerns.

Assist with general labor and production tasks as needed to support the team and maintain smooth operations.

Apply basic mechanical aptitude to understand equipment operation and report any maintenance needs or irregularities.
**Essential Skills**
Hands-on sanding experience, including both machine sanding and hand sanding.

Experience operating hand tools and basic power tools such as grinders and sanders.

Ability to work with wood materials including particle board, laminates, and hardwood.

Strong English communication skills for clear verbal and written interactions.

Comfort with documentation and completing forms such as Non-Conforming Action (NCA) reports.

Basic inspection skills to identify defects and assess part quality.

Material handling experience, including using pallet jacks in a production environment.

General production and general labor experience in a manufacturing or woodworking setting.





Mechanically inclined mindset to understand equipment function and report issues promptly.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience working in environments that combine production stations with custom cabinetmaking areas.

Familiarity with maintenance reporting or assisting with basic upkeep of tools and equipment.

Ability to follow detailed work instructions and quality standards consistently.

Attention to detail and a strong focus on producing high-quality finished parts.

Reliability in adhering to set shift hours and production timelines.
**Work Workplace**
The role is based in a well-lit, clean, and organized facility that is divided between production stations and cabinetmaking areas for custom work.

Team members work with wood materials such as particle board, laminates, and hardwood, using equipment including a Heesemann sander, small hand sanders, grinders, razor knives, and pallet jacks.

The standard shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a consistent daytime schedule.

The environment emphasizes safety and cleanliness, with safety boots required and all other personal protective equipment provided.

**Job Type & Location**

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
