Position Overview

We are seeking three Staff Officers, Simulation (Sim SOs) to support the Canadian Army Simulation Centre (CASC) in Kingston, Ontario.

The Sim SOs will assist military Officers of Primary Interest (OPIs) with the day-to-day management, coordination, planning, and execution of Constructive Simulation (CONSIM), Live Simulation (LIVSIM), and Virtual Simulation (VIRSIM) activities.

This role provides an opportunity to apply military staff experience and simulation expertise in support of Canadian Army training, exercises, and simulation capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

• AFAY (Canadian Army Command and Staff College course) or a CAF-recognized equivalent

• Demonstrated military experience directing or supervising training activities involving simulation

• Demonstrated Staff Officer experience within a unit, school, or headquarters

Desired

• Canadian Technical Staff Course

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities Common to All Simulation Staff Officers

• Provide ongoing advisory support to military OPIs to ensure successful completion of simulation staffing activities

• Assist military OPIs with the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned simulation staffing activities

• Support the development of military Qualification Standards and Training Plans (QS/TPs) for simulation system training delivered to uniformed personnel, DND civilians, and contractors





• Support the planning and delivery of simulation system training in conjunction with TSS, LCMMs, OEMs, and CASC Simulation Detachments

• Produce Post Activity Reports for various simulation initiatives

• Support other simulation-related tasks as assigned by the Senior Activity Lead

CONSIM, Constructive Simulation

Provide Staff Officer-level support to the designated CASC military OPI for the CONSIM portfolio, including:

• Coordinate working groups and prepare supporting materials

• Maintain a CONSIM tool tracker covering current versions, issue tracking, ISS contract status, and related information

• Develop plans for CONSIM updates and integration of new tools

• Track federation status with other simulation systems

• Coordinate and plan connectivity and interoperability testing

• Attend supporting working groups and meetings, including STE governance and CM processes

• Participate in PI Planning with VTEN TA/DLCSPM

LIVSIM, Live Simulation

Provide Staff Officer-level support to the designated CASC military OPI for the LIVESIM portfolio, including:

• Coordinate working groups and prepare supporting materials

• Maintain a LIVESIM tool tracker covering current versions, issue tracking, ISS contract status, and related information

• Develop plans for LIVESIM updates and integration of new simulation tools as required





• Track federation status with other simulation systems

• Coordinate and plan connectivity and interoperability testing

• Attend supporting working groups and meetings, including CA Simulation governance and WESM meetings

VIRSIM, Virtual Simulation

Provide Staff Officer-level support to the designated CASC military OPI for the VIRSIM portfolio, including:

• Coordinate working groups and prepare supporting materials

• Maintain a VIRSIM tool tracker covering current versions, issue tracking, ISS contract status, and related information

• Develop plans for VIRSIM updates and integration of new simulation tools

• Track federation status with other simulation systems

• Coordinate and plan connectivity and interoperability testing

• Coordinate with LCMMs, Detachments, and other Level 1 organizations regarding the management and governance of VIRSIM equipment

Additional Requirements

• Canadian citizenship required

• Level II (SECRET) security clearance required

• English language proficiency required

• Valid passport required for travel

• Must be able to work on-site at the Canadian Army Simulation Centre in Kingston, Ontario
