Unit 58 is an acute inpatient care unit specializing in neurosciences and hospitalist patients. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the RN is accountable for nursing practice in accordance with the standards established by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), Alberta Health Services policies and procedures, and the RN's scope of practice. The RN provides safe, appropriate and patient-centered care while supporting patient comfort, safety, privacy and independence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical assessment and nursing judgment; effective communication and collaborative relationships within the multidisciplinary team; excellent time-management, prioritization and organizational skills; and the ability to function effectively in a energetic environment. The RN will also demonstrate problem-solving, critical-thinking and conflict-resolution skills; self-direction within the scope of the position; commitment to professional growth and development; and behaviors consistent with AHS values. Compliance with AHS Hand Hygiene policies and the AHS Code of Conduct is required. This position requires completion of Seizure Monitoring Unit training after six months of employment.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role,



you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program.



Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent registered nurse experience in acute inpatient care, preferably neuroscience or hospital medicine, within the last 24 months. Applications without recent acute inpatient RN experience within the last 2 years will not be considered. Experience limited to outpatient, community, long-term care, or non-acute settings may not meet the minimum requirements. Demonstrated ability to perform complex clinical assessment, interpret changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately. Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Demonstrated skill in safe patient handling, including mobilizing, repositioning, and transferring patients with mobility limitations. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated accountability, adaptability, and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Incomplete resumes or resumes that do not clearly show recent acute care experience may not be shortlisted. Preferred Qualifications:
