Responsibilities

The SeaBus Maintenance Helper provides essential operational and maintenance support to ensure SeaBus vessels, terminals, and related facilities remain clean, safe, and fully functional. The role focuses on performing a wide range of general duties including housekeeping, basic cleaning and painting, organizing tools and work areas, transporting parts and vehicles, and assisting marine engineering and electrical staff with routine servicing and maintenance tasks. By supporting day-to-day vessel readiness and facility upkeep, this position contributes directly to the reliability and smooth operation of SeaBus services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:





Preference will be given to candidates who have completed vocational or technical coursework in mechanical or electrical disciplines or who hold marine-related certifications such as SVMO (Small Vessel Machinery Operator) or SVOP (Small Vessel Operator).

Additional training or coursework related to marine seamanship is considered an asset and supports the operational nature of the position.

EXPERIENCE:

No prior work experience is required; however, experience in marine operations, mechanical or electrical support, or janitorial and general maintenance roles will be viewed as an asset.

Applicants must be physically capable of performing all job duties, including lifting up to 22 kg, frequent climbing, kneeling, crouching, rapid sweeping motions, prolonged standing, and rapid-paced walking.

Candidates must also submit a current driver’s abstract showing no more than six points within the last three years and no impaired driving convictions, roadside suspensions, or prohibitions within the past five years.

A comprehensive medical examination is required prior to appointment.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Rate of Pay

Wage: $36.17 per hour
