Hockey Without Limits Program Coordinator / Marketing & Volunteer Coordinator
Location: Cowichan Community Centre 2687 James Street, North Cowichan
Term: September 21 to May/June 2027
Program Time: Wednesdays, 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Hours: Approximately 3 hours per week, with additional hours as needed for planning meetings, marketing, volunteer coordination, and tournament support.
Compensation: $100 per week
About Hockey Without Limits
Hockey Without Limits is an inclusive ball hockey program for adults with diverse abilities that uses sport to foster friendship, belonging, confidence, teamwork, and community connection. The program is built on the belief that hockey is more than a game and that everyone deserves opportunities to participate, connect, and thrive.
Position Summary
Hockey Without Limits is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded individual to coordinate and lead our weekly drop-in hockey program. The Coordinator will work closely with the Hockey Without Limits Planning Team, including Community Living BC, Island Ball Hockey Association, BW Hockey, and the Garth Homer Society, to ensure a fun, safe, and inclusive experience for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Arrive early each Wednesday to prepare for the program and work alongside participant leaders.
- Coordinate and oversee the weekly Hockey Without Limits drop-in hockey program.
- Support volunteers and volunteer participants in running games and activities.
- Foster positive relationships with participants and create a welcoming environment for everyone.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, inclusion, and fun.
- Assist with marketing and community outreach to support program growth.
- Participate in planning meetings and collaborate with the Hockey Without Limits Planning Team.
- Help recruit, support, and recognize volunteers.
- Address and resolve conflicts in a respectful and professional manner.
- Work with the Planning Team to organize the annual Hockey Without Limits Ball Hockey Tournament in June 2027.
- Serve as a positive, encouraging leader and role model for participants.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in recreation, community inclusion, sports, volunteer coordination, or event planning.
- Experience working with people with diverse abilities is an asset.
- Organized, reliable, positive, and enthusiastic.
- Passion for building inclusive communities.
