What You Will Do
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of TTC's non-revenue subway work vehicles (workcars) across the network. Working in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and time-sensitive environment, the incumbent will monitor operator performance, identify training and development needs, and deliver coaching, on-the-job instruction, and refresher training to ensure the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
The role is responsible for reviewing, developing, and enhancing operating procedures, inspection protocols, and safety guidelines, while providing technical expertise and operational support to Workcar Operators and other specialized equipment. The incumbent will also respond to operational issues, conduct investigations, prepare reports and recommendations, and play a critical role in promoting safe work practices and continuous improvement across subway maintenance operations.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent
- You currently have a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license in good standing
- You have considerable rail vehicle operation experience, preferably in a rail vehicle maintenance capacity or similar
- You are knowledgeable of mechanical engineering principles, methods, and practices as they relate to subway workcar operation, maintenance, and inspection.
- You are capable of instructing and guiding hourly rated and supervisory staff in proper and approved operating practices and procedures.
- You have strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- You are excellent in verbal communication and report-writing skills.
- You have the ability to identify priorities and coordinate inspections, assessments, and training in conjunction with planned maintenance and rehabilitation work.
- You must be familiar with IBM Maximo
- You will need to work independently and effectively manage unusual or unexpected situations as they arise
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
