The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the key role of Student Pathways & Academic Partnerships Coordinator.

What We Do

There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. As a health authority, you will work in a unique setting where you have the opportunity to care for patients in all phases of their life journey, in all areas of their health experience. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. We provide community-based programming in all six of our communities, have six paramedic bases, three hospitals, four emergency departments, one community health centre and a total of 72 beds.

Who You Are

- Knowledge of Ontario secondary school graduation requirements.
- Knowledge of post-secondary admissions processes
- Understanding of Indigenous education approaches and culturally responsive learning.
- Awareness of Indigenous histories, cultures, languages, and ways of knowing
- Ability to establish respectful and productive relationships with communities
- Solid consultation, facilitation, and communication skills
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Data collection, reporting, and evaluation skills

What You’ll Do

- Promote health career pathways to youth, families, and communities
- Coordinate career exploration, recruitment, and mentorship activities
- Support learners in navigating secondary-to-post-secondary transitions
- Provide guidance on admissions requirements, prerequisites, and application processes
- Support learners throughout their educational journey
- Coordinate academic, mentorship, and wellness supports
- Build and maintain relationships with communities,



schools, post-secondary institutions, and health partners
- Collaborate with educators, guidance counsellors, and program partners to strengthen health profession pathways
- Collect and monitor program participation and learner outcome data.
- Support reporting, evaluation, and funding requirements
- Support implementation of the WAHA-Queen's Health Education Campus Initiative
- Contribute to workforce development and health professions education planning

What You Bring

- Undergraduate degree in education preferred
- Experience supporting Indigenous learners and communities
- Experience working with secondary schools and/or post-secondary institutions
- Ontario Class G Driver’s License required
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the Weeneebayko region required
- 7-10 years’ experience in education, student services, Indigenous education, academic advising, career development, health professions education, or a related field
- Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset

Salary: $92,839.50 - $105,709.50
