The Opportunity: We're searching for an Actuarial Analyst or Associate to join our Par Valuation team. Reporting to the Director, Individual Corporate Actuarial, Traditional Participating Insurance, this position will provide the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Traditional Participating products and financial reporting under IFRS 17. You’ll participate in an actuarial rotation program and get the opportunity to experience and learn different areas of our business.

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week,
plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
- Perform quarterly financial reporting under IFRS 17 for Traditional Participating products, including analysis of results
- Provide inputs to LICAT and Risk Measures reporting and for the Appointed Actuary’s Report
- Calculate current dividends reflecting recent experience and implement dividends and related assumptions in valuation models
- Participate in providing projections of actuarial reserves, cash flows, capital requirements for the business plan
- Implement new products in valuation models
- Make recommendations on process improvements
What you’ll bring:
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel and Access
- Familiarity with actuarial software Moody’s AXIS
- Actuarial work experience, knowledge of IFRS 17 and individual insurance products are beneficial
- A minimum of 3 SOA exams preferred, and a commitment to complete the FCIA/FSA designation
