Welder/Fitter

The Steel Centre is looking for a motivated welder, with potential advancement, to join our team in St. Thomas. It will be full time, day shifts, Monday to Friday.

Requirements:

· Must be CWB certified with current tickets in all position stick (for onsite) and metal core would be an asset or ability to obtain Flat and Horizonal MCAW/FCAW.

· Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products; Operate hoisting and lifting equipment.

· 5 to 10 years’ experience in structural welding and fitting trade.

· Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals, and processes; Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.

· Must be able to read a tape measure.

· Repetitive tasks; Handling heavy loads; Manual dexterity; Attention to detail; Hand-eye co-ordination; Standing for extended periods.

· Physically able to lift 50 lbs.

· Forklift experience





· A clean driver’s abstract (G License)

You will need to supply all your typical hand tools related to this position including welding helmet. The Steel Centre will supply you with all power tools and welding equipment.

This is a shop position and local on-site work.

Wage Range starting $26.00 to $ 28.00 based on education and experience.

Pay: $26.00-$28.00 per hour

Education:

- Secondary School (required)

Experience:

- Forklift: 1 year (preferred)
- structural welding: 5 years (required)
- Blueprint reading: 1 year (required)

Language:

- English (required)

Licence/Certification:

- CWB certified (required)
