Skotidakis Goat Farm is a family-owned dairy manufacturing company located in St-Eugène, Ontario. We manufacture a variety of high-quality Greek yogurts, cheeses, and yogurt-based products.
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Boiler Operator / 4th Class Operating Engineer to join our Maintenance and Utilities team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of our boiler and utility systems while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
Position Summary
The Boiler Operator / 4th Class Operating Engineer will operate and monitor boiler and utility systems, conduct routine inspections, maintain accurate operating records, identify equipment issues, and respond to alarms or abnormal operating conditions.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of boiler operations, industrial utilities, safety procedures, preventive maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and monitor industrial boilers and associated equipment.
- Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel consumption, and other operating parameters.
- Conduct regular inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, piping, gauges, controls, and related equipment.
- Perform routine boiler room checks and maintain accurate operating logs.
- Monitor water treatment systems and perform required testing and adjustments.
- Respond promptly to equipment alarms, abnormal conditions, and operational issues.
- Identify mechanical or operational problems and report deficiencies to the Maintenance team.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor maintenance as required.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Production teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and established operating procedures.
- Maintain boiler rooms and utility areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow company safety policies, GMP requirements, and applicable Ontario regulations.
- Follow all lockout/tagout and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with inspections, testing, maintenance, and regulatory requirements related to boiler and utility equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation, operating logs, and required records.
- Perform other duties related to boiler and utility operations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario 4th Class Operating Engineer Certificate or higher is required.
- Previous experience operating industrial boilers is strongly preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing, dairy, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing is an asset.
- Knowledge of steam systems, hot water systems, pumps, valves, pressure controls, and boiler auxiliaries.
- Knowledge of boiler water treatment and chemical testing is an asset.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, operating procedures, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts when required.
Required Certification
The successful candidate must hold a valid TSSA Certificate of Qualification as a 4th Class Operating Engineer or higher, appropriate for the plant and equipment being operated.
Candidates holding an equivalent operating engineer certification from another Canadian province may be considered, subject to applicable Ontario/TSSA requirements.
