The role of the Housekeeping Supervisor is to assist the Housekeeping Management in the efficient and effective overall running of the housekeeping department. They are to assist the housekeeping staff with preparation of rooms whilst providing training where applicable. Ensuring the comfort of guests in our hotels, and lodges by ensuring that guest rooms and public areas are clean and properly presented. The supervisor must promote a positive image of the property to guests and staff, and must be pleasant, friendly and able to address problems or special requests.
Responsibilities:
- §Assist in the training and coaching of housekeeping staff
- Supervise housekeeping, laundry, and common area staff while they are performing their duties
- Assist in the completion of weekly inventory to ensure adequate stock levels in supply rooms and laundry rooms as well as ensuring these rooms are left tidy each day
- Ensure all common areas are hazard free and cleaned regularly to standard by completing spot inspections
- Have a clear understanding of all unit types in the building and understand all amenities
- Have a sound understanding of operating instructions for amenities in all guest rooms Eg: Fireplace, windows, heater, electronics etc and be able to troubleshoot common issues
- Basic understanding of front desk duties and how the hotel operates
- Conduct daily morning meetings with housekeeping staff and organize staff daily duties
- Have a basic understanding of the hotel reservation system
- Provide assistance to housekeeping staff, front desk staff and Managers where required
- Inspect all guest rooms pre-arrival and post-departure
- Make sure that all daily paperwork and checklists are completed and filed in an orderly fashion for easy retrieval when needed
- Ensure security of guest rooms and privacy of guests
- Assist in administering regular performance reviews to housekeeping staff.
- Ready, willing and able to take on additional tasks as requested by the Housekeeping Managers
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ensure they can provide accurate information of the mountain and village layout issues
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Have a transparent understanding of all health and safety procedures
- Physical mobility and stamina required
- Professional positive attitude is required
- Excellent time management skills
- Previous customer service experience
- Good communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Valid clean BC drivers license is an asset
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset
