Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational direction to ensure the organization achieves its production, quality, delivery, cost, and customer-service objectives.
- Establish a clear operational vision and translate business goals into measurable objectives, priorities, and action plans for each functional area.
- Build a high-performing operations team by setting clear expectations, developing talent, coaching leaders, and creating a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Ensure the organization has the right people in key positions and that responsibilities, decision-making authority, and performance expectations are clearly established.
- Oversee the efficient execution of day-to-day operations, ensuring resources are aligned with business priorities and customer commitments.
- Drive improvements in production capacity, throughput, flexibility, and overall efficiency while maintaining product quality and controlling operating costs.
- Monitor operational performance through relevant KPIs and management metrics, using data and trends to identify opportunities, address performance gaps, and improve results.
- Maintain overall accountability for production output, product quality, inventory flow, customer requirements, and on-time delivery and shipment performance.
- Optimize the deployment of labor, equipment, materials, technology, and other resources to achieve the best possible operational and financial outcomes.
- Partner with production and maintenance teams to maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime, and ensure maintenance activities support production requirements.
- Review existing processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, unnecessary activities, capacity limitations, and other barriers to performance.
- Lead initiatives that reduce waste, improve process flow, shorten cycle times, increase productivity, and lower operating costs.
- Establish and promote a structured continuous improvement culture in which employees at all levels actively participate in identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Champion Lean and operational excellence practices throughout the organization, ensuring improvement initiatives deliver measurable and sustainable results.
- Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety by ensuring employees are properly trained and that safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations are consistently followed.
- Partner with HR and other leadership teams to implement effective workforce practices that support employee engagement, performance, retention, and organizational development.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages communication, teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.
- Stay informed of advancements in manufacturing technology, production methodologies, industry standards, and operational best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Regularly evaluate operational performance and provide leadership with clear insight into results, challenges, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated success in a senior management or leadership position within operations, manufacturing, production, or a comparable environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong commercial and operational understanding, including experience with budgeting, cost management, strategic planning, workforce planning, and resource utilization.
- Proven ability to translate organizational strategy into effective operational plans and measurable business results.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build trust, influence others, manage change, and lead teams through periods of growth or transformation.
- Exceptional people-management capabilities, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex operational issues and make sound, timely decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to establish performance standards, create accountability, and drive results across multiple teams and functions.
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes, equipment, systems, and operational requirements.
- Strong planning and organizational capabilities, with the ability to effectively coordinate production, maintenance, quality, staffing, and delivery priorities.
- Proven hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma, 5S, Transactional Lean, and other process-improvement techniques.
- Ability to identify root causes, develop practical solutions, and lead improvement initiatives from implementation through to measurable results.
- Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to motivate and engage employees while maintaining high standards of performance, professionalism, and accountability.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience with ERP systems, production management software, data analysis tools, and standard business applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, cost, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
