About Kootenay Woodstoves
Kootenay Woodstoves is a long-standing local business specializing in wood, gas, and electric fireplaces, stoves, chimney systems, venting, outdoor living products, service, and installation.
We are a small, close-knit team where everyone plays an important role. We take pride in providing knowledgeable, friendly service to our customers and keeping our day-to-day operations running smoothly.
We are looking for a friendly, organized, and dependable team member who enjoys working with people, learning new things, and being involved in a variety of tasks.
About the Role
This is a diverse sales, customer service, and operations support position with our showroom as your primary home base.
You will be one of the friendly faces customers interact with when they visit or call. You’ll help answer questions, gather information, assist with product and parts inquiries, support scheduling and customer follow-up, and help the sales team keep things organized.
This is also a hands-on role. You’ll work with our warehouse and installation teams when needed, helping with deliveries, organizing materials, preparing products and job materials, and occasionally assisting on installation sites.
No two days are exactly the same, and the right person will enjoy being part of a small team where everyone pitches in and helps keep things moving.
What You’ll Do
Customer & Sales Support
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct customers to the appropriate team member.
- Assist customers with general questions, service requests, and product inquiries.
- Search for parts, manuals, product information, and availability.
- Support the sales team with customer files, product information, and follow-up.
- Develop knowledge of our products, systems, and customer service processes.
Scheduling & Operations Support
- Gather customer information, job details, photos, addresses, and timelines.
- Assist with booking service and installation appointments as trained.
- Help confirm job details and customer readiness.
- Support ordering, tracking, and organizing job materials.
- Help ensure job packages are complete and ready before work begins.
Warehouse & Field Support
- Receive, move, organize, and label products and materials.
- Help unload and stage deliveries safely.
- Prepare materials for service and installation jobs.
- Keep warehouses and pick areas clean and organized.
- Occasionally assist installation crews by carrying, staging, and organizing tools and materials.
- Help with basic labour tasks under the direction of the lead installer.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable working with customers.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Organized and able to follow through on details.
- Comfortable answering phones and communicating with the public.
- Practical, adaptable, and willing to help wherever needed.
- Comfortable using computers, email, calendars, and point-of-sale systems.
- Able to safely lift and move products and materials.
- Comfortable working in both a showroom and hands-on environment.
- Interested in learning about fireplaces, woodstoves, venting, service, and installations.
- A positive team player who takes pride in doing a good job.
Experience That’s an Asset
Experience in any of the following would be helpful, but is not required:
- Retail or customer service
- Sales
- Scheduling or dispatching
- Warehouse or inventory work
- Parts, equipment, or building materials
- Trades or construction
- Fireplace, woodstove, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical work
You don’t need to know our industry when you start. We’re happy to train the right person. What matters most is that you’re willing to learn, comfortable working with people, and ready to contribute as part of a small team.
What We Offer
- Approximately 32 hours per week over 4 days
- Possibility of additional hours when needed
- Training and support from an experienced team
- A stable position with a long-standing local business
- A varied workday with opportunities to learn different parts of the business
- Opportunity to grow into a stronger sales, scheduling, customer service, project coordination, warehouse, or operations role over time.
The Right Fit
This position would suit someone who enjoys variety and doesn't want to be behind a desk all day.
Some days will be focused on customers, phones, sales support, and scheduling. Other days may involve receiving deliveries, organizing materials, preparing jobs, or helping the installation team.
If you’re friendly, organized, practical, and enjoy being part of a small team where your work makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
