Compensation: $80,000-$120,000 (Based on experience and skill)

Summary:

The Estimator will play an integral role in the continued expansion of our Earthline’s business contributing expertise across numerous activities associated with the bidding/tendering, preparation and execution of construction projects.

The Estimator reports directly to the Director, Estimating.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Reads, understands, and interprets drawings and specifications

· Understands and tailors estimates and proposal response documents for unit rate and lump sum contracts

· Participates in pursuits relating to stipulated price (bid-build), design-build and construction/project management project deliveries

· Participates in and contributes to constructability, staging and schedule reviews

· Assists in the assembly of accurate and well-organized cost estimates

· Completes detailed quantity takeoffs from provided documents





· Identifies areas of risk and information gaps and seeks direction from senior department staff or customer representatives

· Formats and constructs estimate cost breakdowns which incorporate takeoffs

· Identifies scopes of work within pursuits which may be completed by sub-contractors or materials which must be provided by third-party suppliers

· Proposes and applies labor, equipment and material resources for application in estimates

· Solicits and organizes sub-contractor and supplier quotations, negotiates to ensure sub-contractor quotations meet the requirements and intent of associated contract documents

· Participates in tender closings

· Fills out or otherwise completes documents which are required for pursuits, including planning for and delivering tenders

· Builds, writes and submits quotation letters

· Develops and maintains information databases and relationships with sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers

· Maintains the Company’s rate database for estimating

· Reviews bid advertising websites and report leads

· Participates in weekly planning and strategy meetings

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:

· Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management Diploma

· 3 + years of estimating experience, preferably within heavy civil construction

· Detail oriented, and able to multi-task under the pressure of deadlines

· Able to conduct technical communications in English with internal and external parties, both written and verbal

· A passion for construction

· Effective time management and organizational skills

· Proven ability to work independently and within a team workplace

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada – no work permit sponsorship is available for this position

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
