Position Summary
The People, Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for supporting Human Resources, Health & Safety, employee training and workplace culture at Big Mountain Foods. This role partners with leadership to recruit, onboard, develop and support employees while ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC, Employment Standards, SQF training requirements and company policies.
We're looking for someone passionate about people, safety, leadership development and building a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
People & Human Resources
- Coordinate recruitment, hiring and onboarding.
- Maintain employee files, HR documentation and company policies.
- Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
- Assist with payroll administration and HR records.
Performance Management
- Coordinate performance reviews and probationary evaluations.
- Coach managers on employee development, documentation and performance conversations.
- Support investigations, progressive discipline and terminations.
- Provide guidance on HR policies and BC Employment Standards.
Health & Safety
- Coordinate the Health & Safety Program and WorkSafeBC compliance.
- Lead Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, inspections and incident investigations.
- Manage WorkSafeBC claims and return-to-work programs.
- Maintain safety records, KPIs and regulatory documentation.
Training & Development
- Coordinate new hire orientation and ongoing employee training.
- Maintain the company training matrix and SQF training records.
- Support SOP implementation and leadership development.
- Promote continuous learning and workplace improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve HR, safety and training systems.
- Support internal audits, compliance initiatives and digital tools that improve efficiency.
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of HR and/or Health & Safety experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC and BC Employment Standards.
- Experience in food manufacturing or an SQF environment is an asset.
- Robust communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
