School Cleaning and Serving Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the school, assisting with serving food at events and in classrooms, and ensuring a hygienic environment for students and staff. This role involves cleaning classrooms, washrooms, kitchen areas, and other common areas, as well as serving food to children in classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning Responsibilities:
- Washroom Cleanliness:
- Ensure washrooms are free from dirt and odors.
- Clean toilets multiple times a day with appropriate cleaning agents.
- Dispose of diapers and other waste immediately and properly.
- Classroom Cleanliness:
- Clean and disinfect all classroom areas daily, including mirrors, windows, and shelves.
- Use smaller mops to reach corners effectively.
- Ensure teachers and students maintain cleanliness by not leaving messes on tables or chairs.
- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Ensure no dirty dishes are left in the kitchen.
- Rinse and place dishes in the sink properly.
- Thoroughly clean all kitchen areas at the end of each day.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the food warmer, water filters, fridge, kitchen doors, and cabinets.
- General Cleaning:
- Regularly vacuum carpets and clean floors.
- Ensure sinks, garbage cans, and mirrors are always clean.
- Organize and clean classroom shelves.
- Sweep and wash hallways daily.
- Clean windows inside every three months and outside at least twice a year.
- Gymnasium Maintenance:
- Sweep and wash the gym floor daily.
- Store all equipment properly after cleaning.
- Furniture Arrangement:
- Arrange tables and chairs to allow ample space for student movement.
- Keep designated activity areas organized.
- Animal Care:
- Maintain clean animal cages with fresh water and bedding.
- Ensure the animal areas are clean and odor-free.
- Playground and Outdoor Maintenance:
- Sweep the Bathurst playground regularly.
- Keep leaves off the walkway and ground.
- Pick up garbage and clean the parking lot, around the school, and street.
Serving Responsibilities:
- Event Assistance:
- Assist in serving food during school events.
- Ensure serving areas are clean and organized.
- Classroom Serving:
- Serve food to children in classrooms as needed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary serving environment.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Hazard Management:
- Ensure all sharp, pointy, or dangerous items are securely stored.
- Keep chemical and cleaning supplies out of students' reach.
- Address any electrical or fire hazards promptly.
- Equipment and Inventory:
- Keep the dishwasher and other appliances in good order and clean.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning and sanitary supplies, ordering as needed.
- Ensure the electrical cabinet, boiler room, and maintenance areas are locked and secure.
Additional Duties:
- Follow a detailed cleaning log,
ensuring tasks are completed daily and weekly.
- Assist with fogging the school as per directions and checklist.
- Regularly clean the windows (both inside and outside).
- Clean the administrative office space.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a similar cleaning and serving role.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning agents.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and handle cleaning supplies responsibly.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to work in various environments including classrooms, kitchens, washrooms, and outdoor areas.
Schedule:
- Full-time position with regular hours. May require occasional flexibility for events and special cleaning tasks.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
