Great opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Steel Detailer (Miscellaneous Steel) to join our detailing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed shop and erection drawings for miscellaneous steel components, including stairs, railings, ladders, platforms, canopies, and other architectural metalwork. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and fabricators, you will interpret architectural and structural drawings, identify conflicts or design issues, and ensure all detailing adheres to project specifications, building codes, and fabrication standards. This position requires a solid understanding of construction practices, a strong understanding of Tekla Structures, and 2–5 years of experience in miscellaneous steel detailing.

Daily Responsibilities:

- Prepare Structural and Miscellaneous Steel models using Tekla Structures.
- Software and detailing using Architectural, Structural and Connection Engineer’s drawings.
- Develop Erection Layout Drawings for Structural and Miscellaneous steel for which field crews can easily interpret.
- Prepare Fabrication Drawings of Beams, Columns, Girts, Joists, Stairs, Ladders, Handrails, Connections, etc.
- Comply with requirements of the design drawings and with CISC standards and CWB codes
- Create RFI’s promptly when discrepancies are found and report them to the project PM, incorporate all changes as required when issues have been addressed.




- Prepare drawing packages and issue them to the client per scheduled delivery dates.
- Preparing CNC files and Project Specific Reports

Qualifications:

- 2-5 year’s experience as a Steel Detailer – willing to consider candidates who can demonstrate significant experience in a related field.
- 3+ year’s experience in Tekla Structures.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting structural and architectural design drawings
- Knowledge in building codes and CISC, OHS standards and Accessibility Guidelines for Structural and Miscellaneous steel.
- Knowledge in AB, BC provincial building codes.
- Knowledge in CWB welding symbols and NOMMA weld finishes.
- Experience in structural and miscellaneous steel construction and fabrication and the ability to read drawings.
- Self-motivated and able to complete multiple tasks with minimal guidance.
- Deadline-driven with an attention to detail.

Requirements:

- A diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or another relevant field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Canadian Citizenship/Legally able to work in Canada.
- Relocation at your own expense.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.00-$44.00 per hour

Expected hours: 88.0 per week
