Our client, a well-established civil contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering infrastructure projects across BC and Alberta, is seeking an Estimator to join their team. With expertise in earthworks, underground utilities, roadworks, and complex civil infrastructure, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the municipal, mining, transportation, and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil and heavy civil construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements to develop complete bid submissions.
- Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to validate production rates, construction methodologies, schedules, and project requirements.
- Develop scopes of work and bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
- Support the ongoing development of estimating systems, cost databases, and labour, equipment, and material rates.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- 2+ years of estimating experience within the civil construction industry.
- Experience estimating underground utilities, earthworks, excavation, and/or roadworks.
- Experience preparing estimates and bid submissions for municipal, mining, transportation, industrial, or other civil infrastructure projects.
- Ability to manage the estimating process from initial tender review through to final bid submission.
- Experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is considered an asset.
- Field or project coordination experience within civil construction is considered a strong asset.
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
