Senior Financial Planning, Budgeting & Reporting Consultant - Contract - 19423

About the Opportunity

Our client, located downtown Ottawa, is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Financial Planning & Reporting Consultant to support a finance transformation initiative.

Over the past year, our client has invested significantly in current systems and processes, and has established a strong foundation for the responsible use of AI and automation across the organization. They are now looking to work with a consultant to bring together and enhance the tools, reports, and processes already underway, reducing manual effort and improving decision-making across multi-year planning, forecasting, and reporting.

The successful candidate will build on the knowledge and expertise that already exists within the Finance team, while contributing external experience, mentoring, and knowledge transfer so the team can confidently maintain, enhance, and evolve the solution over time.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Assess the current state of the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes
Develop a future-state vision and framework, including a prioritized implementation roadmap
Build rolling multi-year forecasts and improve cash flow forecasting to monthly precision
Help translate operational information (budgets, purchase orders, contracts, staffing data) into timely insights that support reallocation of resources as priorities evolve
Reduce reliance on manual spreadsheets and repetitive reporting effort
Design and build more automated, self-service, and dynamic reports, dashboards, models, and templates
Provide staff mentoring and knowledge transfer so the Finance team can confidently maintain and evolve the solution
Work within key organizational milestones
About You

The successful candidate will have the following:




Proven experience leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting transformation projects, ideally in a consulting or advisory capacity
Strong background building rolling multi-year forecasts and monthly-precision cash flow forecasting
Demonstrated ability to design automated, self-service reporting and dashboards that reduce manual effort
Experience mentoring internal finance teams and transferring knowledge to support long-term ownership of new tools and processes
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-finance stakeholders
About the Job

This is a contract consulting engagement, expected to begin in September 2026. The scope and duration will be shaped collaboratively with the client’s Finance team, with the engagement aligned to key organizational milestones.
Location: Hybrid to be discussed
Hourly rate: $50-80/hour, commensurate with experience. Final rate will be confirmed based on the consultant's background and the milestone-based scope of work
